Hiking and Jazz in Steamboat Springs

There is something very special about Steamboat Springs. It’s a ski town with an unpretentious western flair. Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek and Keystone are fun, but Steamboat grabs your heart. It’s people are welcoming, friendly and genuinely interested in what you have to say.

This is the sort of place I would really love to have a second home. It may be a three-hour drive from Denver, but it is worth it.

My new friend Sandra, and a native to Steamboat Springs, took me hiking this morning. What a great way to start the day. Look at the views!

It was a tough hike, but coming down felt good. We worked up an appetite and stopped off at Double Z BBQ to pick up some food to take back to the condo. The food was put in the oven to keep warm while we went and sat by the fire pit outside to enjoy a glass of champagne. It was a lovely afternoon. A jazz band played at the bottom of the mountain. This is what life is all about.

Champagne finished, we watched the rest of the concert from the condo on the 7th floor of the Sheraton with my daughter, her boyfriend (Sandra’s son) and Andy, (Sandra’s husband), whilst eating traditional delicious BBQ. What a great Saturday. I know Steamboat would prefer snow, but this weather was perfect for a four-day get-away in Steamboat Springs.

I have always regretted not visiting Steamboat after living near Boulder for two years. Someday…. Nice photos.

Thanks. I have lived in Colorado (Franktown) for 18 years and didn’t visit Steaboat until last summer, now I am hooked! Lovely relaxing friendly place.
