Sunrise in Franktown doesn’t normally look like this. It’s 7:15 am and the wildfires in Montana are playing havoc with the atmosphere. Stay safe everyone.

Last night I posted the beauty of the sky
The clouds that swirled as they passed me by
Now replaced by terror in thick grey plumes
Wildfires burning, danger looms.
Pray for the brave Fire Fighters who are out there keeping us safe.

At this time of the year we usually enjoy long pleasant evenings on the patio, sipping a glass of wine as we watch the sun set. This year no-one in Colorado can relax. We had a smoky dusk at 6:30 last night as the Walden Canyon wildfire exploded and doubled in size. I live around sixty miles away from this fire. Imagine how terrifying it is up close.
To the East the sky was Dark and ominous.
Hard to believe it was an early evening in June.
The background is a blanket of smoke. It looks like storm clouds, I wish it was.
To our south-west, sixty miles away, the fire rages.
Awful, tragic, unpredictable fire.
This is not the sun setting behind the mountains. This is a raging, uncontrollable fire gobbling up our beautiful countryside, engulfing homes, obliterating memories.
This devastation is everyone’s worst nightmare, destroying dreams that have been years in the making. Think of the wildlife that must be fleeing terrified from the flames.
Put your hands together and pray that every living creature finds safety. Homes can be rebuilt, lives are lost forever.

From our house in Franktown Pikes Peak resembles a volcano!
Let the Fire Fighters be safe!
Let the burning cease!
Colorado is so dry right now that the slightest spark can burn down acres. So many people have lost their homes. Some have lost their lives. It is only June and there are over 12 wildfires burning in Colorado.
We look on in horror, but this could be us. It could be our homes burning.
Please celebrate carefully and thoughtfully this 4th of July.

JEFFERSON COUNTY – The Lower North Fork Fire – which started burning Monday afternoon – was 70 percent contained on Friday afternoon after authorities say they had another good day of work on the fire. The fire has destroyed several homes. Two people were found dead in a burned area, and a woman is still missing after her house was found burned to the ground.
Colorado is dry and hot in the Summer, but Summer isn’t here yet, we are only in March.
If so many wildfires are breaking out in March, what is the Summer going to bring? March is usually our snowiest month so where is the snow?
Almost one year ago to the date, I almost lost my home in a fire.
The burning tree fire in Franktown was scary. It was the first time I was faced with the prospect of losing my home of fourteen years. A home with a view of the mountains, a home I love.
Thanks to the brave firefighters, my home, and the homes of my neighbors were saved. Let this please be a lesson to everyone to be careful. We have not had much snow down here in the plains and the grass is dry and brittle. If you are grilling outside, BE CAREFUL. If you smoke, please EXTINGUISH your cigarettes.
Before we know it, July 4th will be here, and the fire risk will be tremendous. Please be careful with fireworks. Enjoy your independence safely and don’t burn down this wonderful state.

Very little moisture + high wind = Fire!
I hope no one lost their homes. I hope everyone gets out safely. Lets all pray for the brave fire fighters who put their lives at risk to make us safe.
