Me in the Middle

DSC03732

I’m the one in the middle. Always ready to laugh, always ready for fun. As a kid I was ALWAYS in trouble. I turn every situation into a story.

Other than my family, the important things in my life are writing and visiting Italy. I  finally realized my Italian dream and bought a house in the small village of Colledimezzo, which is in the Chieti province of Abruzzo. I’m just as pleased as punch. I have another dream to fulfill now, to make it as a writer.

My second book, Ghosts on the Sand, is almost finished. I’m working on the last short story in this compilation. It’s called “The Engineer” and is a tongue in cheek black comedy set in Italy. Watch out for my new book and help me achieve my writing dream. Who knows, maybe you’ll enjoy it.

Speeding up the Tale!

roadrunner

The older I get, the more urgent everything becomes. My passion (as well as travelling), is writing. The first book I published was a short story called ‘Girl on the Beach’. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. The genre was a little mixed, but I had a lot to learn….I still have a lot to learn, but I’m getting there.

A couple of months ago I decided to re-write ‘Girl On The Beach’ and then re-launch it as a Young Adult book. Since making this decision, I’ve had visitors from England, a wedding and a very busy summer. In two days I’m attending a fiction writers conference and would love to share my book with some of the attendees, who knows, I may even get discovered……or maybe not.

I have ten pages to re-write! I can do it. Yes this blog is all about Travel Tales and Mishaps…..I’m simply speeding up the tale. Keep checking in, who knows, I may be a success story. I’d love you to join the celebration.

Dead of July, my first full length novel, is available on amazon. Check it out, read the reviews, support a hardworking old bird who is trying to live her dreams.

Memories of Summer

As I wonder where the summer went, I think about the lovely days it brought. How quickly we slipped into Fall.

I concentrated so hard on finishing my novel, Summer passed in a blur, but I have my memories.

Yes I have my memories to keep me warm and hopefully soon, a novel to sell. It would be lovely if it was a ‘best seller’.

I know, I spend too much time sitting on my deck, drinking in the view, and enjoying a crisp cold glass of wine, but these sunsets are just too good to miss.

Sometimes I just need to remind myself how lucky I am.

My home, the place that allows me to relax and write. Thanks to my tranquil surroundings, my first novel will be released in the fall.

Snowy Sunrise – Franktown Colorado

Yes, I changed the header again. I am just having so much fun with the panoramic view on this camera. I’ll get over it. I snapped a couple of photos before I went to work this morning. What I really wanted to do was drive into the mountains and spend the day taking photographs……oh well.

Now the weekend is ahead and I have to put my camera down for a while and concentrate on my other hobby, the one I am trying to turn into a career, and that is writing.

My first short story ‘Girl on the Beach’ is still selling modestly. It was my first published work so it has a special place in my heart.

‘Dead of July’ is my first full length novel and it will be published in July 2013. I am very excited about this one.

Tales and Mishaps

This is the first book I published. I was so proud and excited when I received this box of books from the printer. My name on a book. I was a writer. This little story is about a seven-year old girl (me) and a premonition she has whilst on holiday (vacation) with her mum in Blackpool. I have had lots of lovely reviews written about this book. One even made me cry. You can still buy this book on Amazon, or even download it for free if you have Amazon Prime membership.

In January I am taking this book off the market to re-edit it. As my writing career progresses, I don’t want to be remembered for my mistakes, and I found a few in this book when I read it recently.

‘Guy at the Bar’ is a book I wrote for fun. I plucked up courage and showed it to my husband who, much to my surprise, enjoyed reading it and encouraged me to sell it as an e-book on Amazon.

This book didn’t receive so much publicity as the whole Social Media/Marketing business was new to me. ‘Guy at the Bar’ is a story about something that happened to a seventeen year old girl (me) on the way home from her local pub. This book will also be getting re-edited in January. The story will not change, but the way it is written will.

DEAD OF JULY

‘Dead of July’ is currently with my editor and will be published in March. I am proud of this book. It is going to be something everyone will enjoy reading.

It is the story about a young girl living in Germany in the early eighties (me). She is married to a British soldier, who has become used to her strange gift of predicting the future, and talking to ghosts. He was however, a little perturbed when she became involved with the Russian Mafia, both dead and alive. Below is a few sentences from her first involvement with the fowl smelling Viktor.

“You are going to pay for what you did,” he said with a heavy, guttural accent. “You will never be rid of me.” His fingers crawled around to the back of my head, pulling me toward him. I was too terrified to move. He leaned forward through the window so our faces were touching and kissed me roughly on the lips, biting me as he did so. The smell of his stale breath made me want to vomit and I jerked my head away from him.

I hope this little preview made you curious enough about my book to look for it when it is released in March. You can learn more about my book, my life and about me from the links below.

Colors of the evening

I always enjoy a peaceful Friday. Me, a glass of wine and my camera!

Let me share it with you.

Good night and have a lovely weekend.

If you have a few minutes spare this weekend, try a couple of short stories.

The Evenings are getting shorter.

The evenings are getting shorter now so I am making the most of them. Winter stays for a long time, during which we have to hide away inside, away from the cold. It’s nice to sit be a warm fire, but it’s not as nice as sitting out on the porch while the world slowly goes to sleep.

A solitary hummingbird take her last snack of the day.

The sun goes to sleep

And the moon slides out from behind the trees.
