Snow and Blue Sky!

Perfect day in Vail Colorado. Can’t go wrong with blue sky and snow!

Winter creeps in!

It’s not quite winter yet, but it will be soon. I woke up to a frost this morning! first-frost2On my drive home from work tonight I passed a house adorned with Christmas lights. It looked magnificent, but it’s only November 9th. We’ve just got through Halloween, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but Christmas…..

Winter crept up on me this year!

I suppose it’s not such a bad thing. I had a wonderful summer. Memories of Italy are still fresh in my mind.

I look to Thanksgiving with happy anticipation because it’s a time to gather family and friends together. This year in Vail. Snow and a steaming hot tub. What could be better?

Yes winter crept up on me this year, and I’m going to enjoy it!

Back to Cabo San Lucas

CIMG0478The last four years have literally flown, I can’t believe it’s already October 2013.

Where have I been what have I done? There have been good times and bad times since my last visit to Cabo San Lucas in December 2009, but I choose to just remember the good.

In August of 2010 we went to Rome. I have had a love affair with Italy since I was five and tasted my first Italian Ice Cream.  After many trips to various places in that magical romantic country, I still want more.

So the Spanish Steps get a little crowded sometimes, who cares, the atmosphere is unbeatable.

In 2011 we took a trip back to England, first time in quite a while. We visited old friends and old haunts.  I’d forgotten how green and beautiful it was. The poppies growing in the grounds at Richmond Castle, North Yorkshire were gorgeous.

Where was my next photo opportunity? I believe it was Thanksgiving in Vail in 2011.

Whats this? Why a frozen fountain of course, its Vail, things like that happen.

In May 2012 we made a return trip to the gorgeous Grand Velas in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, where we were treated like royalty.  It is one of my favorite hotels.

2012 was a good year, we also went to Steamboat Springs. Once in August and once in November. What a delightful mountain town.

2013 has been busy, but we enjoyed a couple of days in Keystone.

A long weekend in San Francisco

And now, unexpectedly, I am going to relax for a week in Cabo San Lucas. I hope it’s as beautiful as i remember it.

Giving Thanks in Vail

It is a truly beautiful day here. I walked along the river from  Lionshead  to Vail Village and didn’t even need a heavy coat!

There was snow on the slopes, but mostly man-made so I decided not to snowboard. Lots of people were both snowboarding and skiing, but they were probably better than me and could handle it.  It looked icy!

The walk by the river was gorgeous. Everyone I met was relaxed and cheerful and wished me a Happy Thanksgiving.

I relaxed too, and enjoyed the beautiful friendly village of Vail. I should come here more often.

Looking forward to a lovely Thanksgiving dinner that I don’t have to cook myself!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

A new season of snowboarding challenges

I pulled out my snowboarding gear today. Gloves, wrist guards, helmet, pants, boots and of course my Epic Pass!

Will I be a little better this year? I hope so!

I have been working out, building up my strength and stamina, but none of that gives me the confidence I need to just ‘let go’ and trust the mountain.

I don’t need to look like this!

I just don’t want to look like this.

I want to prove to myself that I can do this. I love being on the mountain, I love the views, the people, the whole activity.

I just lack to confidence to let myself go. Now I have one more reasong to have a good snowboarding year

I am 54 and when I got my snowboard tuned this last time, the guy who I gave it too (who looked about 12) asked me how my daughter liked her new bindings…….”They are mine” I told him…..he didn’t even apologize, but instead looked at me like I was lying…..

I stood there, hurt and angry and thought, “put anymore weight on fatso, and you won’t be able to snowboard much longer yourself”.

Didn’t say it though, but if he is reading my blog…..HE KNOWS WHO HE IS!
